What is the Importance of SEO?

If you are designing a website or redesigning it then SEO of your website is very crucial. Many Business opt for SEO as it helps you get more visitors to your website and make more sales.

The primary goal of the SEO is to get more traffic from diverse sources and to get more repetitive customers. If your website ranks good on Search Engine such as Google, then you get more traffic on your website.

It also increases your website’s trust as your website would be in the top search results.

What is SEO in Marketing?

From Marketing perspective, you would do SEO for getting more visitors to visit your website’s page. The basic idea is to share some informational content with them and finally turn them into your regular customers.

Now there are two ways through which you can get more traffic from the search results to your websites.

  1. SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
  2. SEM (Search Engine Marketing)

SEO is usually done for getting traffic organically. You don’t have to pay anything for that.

SEM is an acronym for Search Engine Marketing which is paid marketing.

Primary Goal in SEO is to get your webpage ranked in the top 3 of search results.

Why in top 3?

Because when we search something its human tendency to click on the first couple of results and not go beyond that. According to 2020 report the Click Through Rate (i.e. the ratio of users clicking on the specific link) of positions on the search results are as follows:

  • Position #1 – 20%
  • Position #2 – 13.32%
  • Position #3 – 13.14%
  • Position #4 – 8.98%
  • Position #5 – 9.21%

So it is pretty obvious from the above reports that your webpage should get ranked in the top 3 of the search results.

Now there are 2 ways you can get your webpage to get ranked #1 on search results.

1. Pay Money

You can use Google AdWords where you can bid on the keywords which users search for. For example, if your website is about restaurant then you definitely want to catch those people who search for say,   ‘Best restaurants in India’.

You need to bid on such keywords so that whenever any user searches for that keyword your webpage should display on their search results.

2. SEO route

This route includes ranking your webpage organically. You can do keyword research according to the niche (an ideal position) of your website.

How SEO works step by step?

Search Engines considers numerous factors for ranking a web page. For instance Google considers 200+ factors to rank a web page.

The most important ones are:

Keyword Research

The first step is to do Keyword Research. It is a process of selecting a right keyword for your web page on which you want your web page to rank.

It is an important factor which describes the content of the webpage. Include long-tail keywords in your article.

Example: Buy laptop (short tail keyword).

Buy 4GB Nvidia Graphics laptop under 60000 (long tail keyword).

If you are a beginner then we would recommend that you focus on long tail keyword as there won’t be much high competition as compared to short keywords.

It is a measure which can be taken directly from the website and considered as On Page SEO.

Ways to do Keyword Research

 1. Search the keyword (relevant to your niche) on Google.

You may type your keyword in Google Search bar. It will give suggestions and most probably these will be searched by most people. That way you can select a keyword for which you want to rank your web page.

Suppose you own an Electronics Business and want to sell laptops then you would search for ‘best laptops’.

Here you will find suggestions related to your keyword

You may also find more related keywords in the footer of the search page.

  • How frequently people are searching those keywords?
  • How much is the competition for those keywords?

Backlinks

Out of 200+ factors to rank a web page Backlinks are the most important one.

For a given web resource, Backlink is a link from some other websites to that web resource. It simply means that backlink of a particular web resources (articles, blog posts, etc) is a link which is present on some other websites. The more Backlinks your website has, higher you are going to rank.

You need to get Backlinks from Domain with higher Domain Authority. This in turn helps your Domain Authority to be increased.

If you want to get the links, the quickest way is to do round up post. A roundup post is nothing but a compilation of expert answers to a single question.  Roundup posts are very valuable to the readers as they get many expert opinions in one place. The post brings in traffic as many of the experts will share your post with their audiences.

Content

Content matters the most as this is the factor which is going to decide if your article was helpful or not. So make sure that you include the content which answers the questions of your readers.

User Experience

The experience of the user visiting your website should be excellent.

Site Structure

The structure of your website should be well arranged. The content should not look over crowded.

Domain Authority

It describes the website’s relevance for a specific subject area. For a particular website it is measured in the range of 0-100 which is a Richter scale (it is easy to go from 0-10 than going from 10-20).

Websites like Google.com, Youtube.com, Facebook.com have Domain authority of nearly 100.

Get Backlinks from higher Domain Authority to increase your Domain Authority as well.

Website Speed

Time taken to load the webpage also matters. Consider the scenario that you search on google and you click on the first result you get. But it takes upto 10 seconds to load. Whereas there is another webpage which ranks below that and takes 5 seconds to load. Definitely the users would like to visit the webpage that loads faster.

Therefore it is important that your webpage loads faster.
